The Property Tax Department manages real estate tax reconciliations with landlords and counties.
Responsibilities
- Research real estate and tangible refunds owed to Publix.
- Verify payments made to landlords based on final county values.
- Research county websites for accurate values.
- Correspond with landlords to obtain refunds.
- Undertake other assigned tax projects.
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in Business, Accounting, or another analytical discipline, and be a current junior (rising senior as of the program start in Summer 2024) or a graduate student.
- Basic skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook) and internet-based research tools.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, tact, and patience.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Property Tax Management System.
- Familiarity with SAP Real Estate Module.
- Understanding of Publix Leases and Site plans.
- Knowledge of state sales tax rules and regulations for each state, county, and city where Publix operates.
- Ability to read and interpret lease language related to Real Estate taxes.
