Titmouse, a leading animation and video production company, offers internships that provide students with valuable experience and the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals in their field

For the summer of 2024, details about the internship are not yet available. However, based on previous years, the internship typically lasts a total of 216 hours, requiring 3-5 days a week based on the availability of the candidate and the Titmouse team1. Internships at Titmouse are currently unpaid and reserved for college students who will receive school credit.

Interns are given practice assignments with professional materials and have the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and develop their skills in an environment that is supportive and encouraging. They also get to sit in on daily meetings of live productions to see how the art director reviews work.

1. Titmouse Artistic Internship

Do you have artistic talent that you’re not using? Are you interested in learning more about storyboarding, design, or animation? Titmouse may have the opportunity for you!

As an intern at Titmouse, you’ll be given practice assignments with professional materials. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and develop your skills in an environment that is supportive and encouraging. Requirement for Apply

  • Must apply with a portfolio. If you’re not sure how to format your portfolio, please check out this video.
  • Familiar with the animation process (either through school, personal projects, or previous experience).
  • Show an interest in any of the following career tracks: storyboards, design, or animation.
  • Must be enrolled in college for the duration of the internship and be able to receive school credit for the internship.
  • Must be able to commit at least 3 full days a week.
  • Location requirements: At the moment we are unsure if the design or animation internships will be remote or in person. If you’re interested in the internship, please just submit an application regardless of your location and we will figure out what we are able to accommodate towards the end of the year.

Experience for Internship

  1. Interns will get to sit in on daily meetings of live productions to see how the art director reviews work.
  2. Interns will be given a variety of design tests using professional materials and prompt in order to build an animation-relevant portfolio.
  3. Interns will have their tests reviewed and given feedback by art directors and/or design supervisors to learn what areas need to be improved.
  4. Meetings with various Titmouse employees to ask industry questions and build a network.
  5. At the end of the internship, interns will be given a performance review by their direct supervisor.

2. Production Internship Titmouse

A production internship is perfect for students interested in Production Management. If you’re passionate about production, this is the internship for you. You’ll gain experience in all aspects of production, from planning and scheduling to monitoring and managing. This is an opportunity not to be missed, so don’t wait -apply today!

  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • A love for word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications (such as Google Suite, AirTable, ShotGrid, etc).
  • Ability to quickly learn new software applications.
  • Maintain confidentiality over all matters and proprietary information.
  • Must be enrolled in college for the duration of the internship and be able to receive school credit for the internship.
  • Must be able to commit at least 3 full days a week.
  • This internship is open to remote candidates.

Experience for Internship

  1. Learn our studio culture and production structure.
  2. Learn about the pre-production process, scripts, and records sessions.
  3. Learn about assignment handouts, asset tracking, and creating weekly reports.
  4. Learn about shipping assets to overseas studios.
  5. Learn Calendar management skills and how to schedule meetings.
  6. Learn FileMaker Pro.
  7. Sit in on Dailies and practice taking effective notes. Learn important animation lingo and the pipeline.

3. Recruiting Internship

Recruiting interns is essential for any animation studio or company. Not only do they provide valuable experience and skills, but they also help students develop an understanding of the animation industry and what hiring managers are looking for when reviewing portfolios. In this article, we’ll outline the steps that should be taken when recruiting interns, and we’ll provide a portfolio review example to illustrate what hiring managers are looking for.

  • We’d like someone with a good artistic eye, able to differentiate artistic styles/skill levels and match them with the open productions.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • A love for word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications (such as Google Suite, AirTable, etc).
  • Ability to quickly learn new software applications.
  • Maintain confidentiality over all matters and proprietary information.
  • Bonus: Familiar with the animation pipeline, has the potential for art roles but also has interest in talent management.
  • This internship is open to remote candidates.

Experience for Internship

  1. Most importantly: Interns will learn about what productions and hiring managers are looking for when they’re hiring artists!
  2. Sit in on interviews for artistic and supervisor positions, learn the do’s and don’ts of interviews, and how to take accurate notes.
  3. Interns will get to sit in on staffing meetings with live productions and see how a team is assembled.
  4. Interns will have access to different test assignments the studio sends out. This assignment gives the intern access to not only the test materials as practice assignments, but also what the completed tests look like, what the supervisor’s assessment of the tests are, and who ends up passing the test.
  5. Interns must research and reach out to industry professionals in the departments or shows they’re interested in for informational interviews to grow their network.
  6. Interns will get an inside look at the hiring platform we use at Titmouse! They will get the opportunity to review job applicants and practice assessing if the candidate will be a good fit for the product under the supervision of the Artistic Recruiter.
