As an industrial safety intern at Publix, you will collaborate with managers and supervisors to identify and address potential risks. Your responsibilities within the department will encompass various tasks.

Responsibilities

1. Analyze incident data from case management sources to identify patterns, detect trends, and establish causal relationships within those metrics.
2. Conduct a work study on incident reporting data and processes, presenting trend analysis findings.
3. Evaluate the impact of in-task messaging on injury frequency in both Retail and Industrial environments.
4. Conduct or validate job safety analyses within distribution warehouses and manufacturing plants.
5. Participate in both large and small group training sessions.
6. Assist in the weekly safety assessment process.

Required Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Occupational Safety, Safety Management, Fire Protection and Safety Engineering, or a similar discipline, and be a current sophomore or above (rising junior or above as of the program start in Summer 2024).
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to review and analyze trends within a dataset.
• High level of maturity, discretion, tact, and judgment, with the ability to handle confidential information.
• Ability to multitask.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Must have and wear safety toe footwear.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Publix associate.
• Experience in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
