To be able to do an internship on opt, you must have a degree or diploma. It is not possible to apply for an internship without having the qualification that is required. Opt also has different categories of internships depending on the qualifications you have.
The first category of interns are those who are holders of high school diplomas and who work in research departments like corporate finance, legal affairs, IT, etc. The second category includes students with university degrees and they work in marketing departments like communications and public relations, research and development as well as sales and distribution. If you’re interested in working with customers then you can join the third category which includes graduates from business schools like Harvard Business School or Wharton School of Finance & Commerce or graduate students at universities such as University College London (UCL) or City University London (CUL).
It’s up to you how much time will be spent working on your internships but if it’s only for one month then it is not enough time to learn everything about your job role so make sure that it will last longer than a month so that there will be no doubt about your ability to perform well when it comes to being hired by the company after completing your internship period.

You can obviously take on any internship if you are already studying in the United States on an F1 visa. It may be anything from an unpaid internship to a paid internship, but there could be certain limits on when and how many hours you are expected to work. You will be permitted to operate for a total of 20 hours. This is from a student group on campus.
However, there are two choices if you choose to do an internship with an off-campus organization.
- OPT
- CPT
OPT Internships do not have to be part of a student’s program, and students who are still completing their post-graduation will participate.
CPT internship is better than OPT internships. Strongly suggest going with CPT internships.
If you want to go with the Internships but do not get getting it then sign up with any Job Portals Like UnitedOPT, Career Ghost, and many more. Which helps to find OPT/CPT Internships.

- But if you want to do an internship with an off-campus organization then there are two of them. The first is OPT & the second is CPT.
- OPT Internship does not need to be a part of the curriculum of the student and can still be taken by students who are still pursuing their post-graduation.
- But I will suggest going for a CPT internship rather than an OPT one from my experience.
