getting internships with low GPA

The best way to get internships with  low GPA is to make sure that you have the skills that are needed for the job.
For example, if you are applying for a marketing internship, you need to be able to use social media and online platforms effectively in order to create awareness about your company. If this is not something that you know how to do, then it would be better if you learn it before going for an internship.

There are many opportunities to get internships with low GPA. If you can demonstrate that you have the ability to do well in a specific field, employers will be willing to give you an opportunity.

First of all, you need to work on your resume and cover letter. You can make use of various resources like WSO (Work Smart Online), CareerBuilder, etc for creating a better resume and cover letter. It is also important that your profile is updated regularly as employers look at these two documents before hiring interns.

Now it’s time for you to start applying for jobs online by sending resumes directly to the company’s HR department or through emailing them directly with your relevant experience and skills. Keep in mind that companies may not be able to hire interns but they might offer internship positions which require a lower GPA than full-time positions. So don’t feel discouraged if there aren’t any offers coming your way right away, keep trying!

Yes, getting an internship while having a low GPA is very difficult.

But, NO, it is not impossible.

Build up your skills well, equip your projects to stack on the resume. Do some really cool, useful projects.
Apply offline, and get ready to get screwed up at the interviews, but you’ve got to have the skill and confidence to face those tough questions about the would-be task of your internship.

Remember – Low GPA students tend to face tough questions than the others in an interview (telling this through my personal experience), so be well prepared and be equipped with the concepts properly.

First, I see that your question is tagged w/ tech companies, such as FB, Amazon, Google, etc. With that, I believe most of those companies find your ability to problem solves more important. Not to say GPA is useless, but having a 3.8 w/ no programming projects or interest in the industry/field (i.e. taking up mentoring, Teaching Assistant, research, etc.) will make you lackluster in this industry.

We are seeing great shifts, especially in engineering, towards the growth in software engineering/computer science undergraduate students,… so there will *always* be a fresh *competitive* supply of them in the meantime.

SO, if you’re GPA is not something great, it’s okay. Find out ways that you can stand out. This will not only help you with scoring an internship, but it will help you in life too. Network… use LinkedIn and other tools. That may help you get your foot in the door for the interview. Using that and coupling your other skills … perhaps you did a great project in the past… or do freelancing UX, etc. will get you a better chance at the job!
